Absent Mindedness

Amber called me at work today and asked if I wanted to meet them at the park just off center street in Provo on my way home. I responded that it would be a great idea.

I donned on my helmet and started my MP3 player so that I could start listening to the "Reagan Diaries" on my way over there. I got so engrossed in listening to that book that I didn't really pay attention to where I was going.

I drove past the park and stopped at the stop light next to the park. The kids saw me and realized that I was not stopping at the park. They all ran to the sidewalk and started yelling my name at the top of their voices. However, with my motorcycle noise, helmet, and MP3 player playing, I did not hear or see them. I just stared straight ahead. When the light turned green, off I went!

About five blocks later, I arrived at the park that I had in my head that I was going to. Just before I reached the park, I realized what I was doing. Feeling really dumb, I quickly turned the bike around and headed back to the intended park.

The kids really teased me about it when I got there!

We had a good time while we were there though. Jace took his first ride on a real park swingset. He was really panic faced at first, but I helped him to adjust and then he thought it was the best thing in the world!
